Gregor Gillespie is starting to get the hang of the callout game.
He broke his own rule when he called out Anthony Pettis for a fight at UFC 244 while crunching on a Wheaties bowl and has now thrown another name into the mix.
Hey @felderpaul you looked good in your kickboxing fight with Edson…let’s see how you do in an MMA fight with me….
Felder is yet to respond as of this writing, but it appears someone else is interested in fighting Gillespie. Kevin Lee, who recently made the move up to 170 pounds, called out Gillespie, who appeared to be open to the fight. Lee, a former UFC interim lightweight title challenger, could be hinting at a move back down, unless he’s forgotten that Gillespie is a 155 pounder.
One thing’s for sure, the New York native Gillespie is targeting a return on Nov. 2, looking for an opportunity to fight in front of a hometown crowd. “The Gift” hasn’t competed since his second-round TKO win over Yancy Medeiros at UFC on ESPN+ 1 early this year and is unbeaten, going a perfect 5-0 in the UFC.
Gillespie, who has finished all five of his UFC wins, is one of the dark horses of the lightweight division. He has certainly earned a top-ranked opponent next as he is itching to get back into the cage.
