Jessica Eye returns to face Viviane Araujo at UFC 245

The UFC has scheduled a flyweight bout between a former title challenger and a surging Brazilian up-and-comer.

Coming off of a loss to champion Valentina Shevchenko in June, Jessica Eye (14-7 MMA, 4-6 UFC) will return to action at UFC 245, where she’ll take on Viviane Araujo (8-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC).

UFC 245 will take place Saturday, Dec. 14 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card will stream on pay-per-view, following prelims on ESPN 2 and ESPN+.

Eye’s loss to Shevchenko at UFC 238 came via brutal second-round headkick. Prior to the loss, Eye had won three straight fights. After defeating Kalindra Faria and Jessica-Rose Clark, Eye picked up one of the biggest wins of her career at UFC 231 in December. “Evil” got the nod from the judges after she went the distance with fellow contender Katlyn Chookagian in Toronto.

Her opponent, the 32-year-old Araujo, has won both of her UFC outings to date. On less than one week’s notice, Araujo burst into the national conversation with a huge knockout victory over Talita Bernando at UFC 237.

In her sophomore UFC bout at UFC 240 in July, Araujo defeated former bantamweight title challenger Alexis Davis via unanimous decision.

The UFC 245 headliner has not been announced at this time.
