Max Griffin vs. Alex Morono added to UFC on ESPN+ 19 in Florida

A pair of welterweights coming off big wins earlier this year will meet in Florida.

MMA Junkie today learned from a person with knowledge of the booking that Max Griffin and Alex Morono have verbally agreed to meet at UFC on ESPN+ 19, which takes place Oct. 12 in Tampa, Florida. That person requested anonymity because the UFC has yet to make an official announcement.

Bout agreements are expected to be finalized shortly.

Griffin (15-6 MMA, 3-4 UFC) picked up a hard-fought majority decision win over the highly touted and previously undefeated Zelim Imadaev in April. The bout turned into a bit of a grudge match, with Russia’s Imadaev doing his best to make the contest personal throughout fight week. The much-needed result also snapped a two-fight losing streak for Griffin, who had dropped back-to-back decisions to Thiago Alves and Curtis Millender.

Meanwhile, Morono (16-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC) brings a two-fight winning streak into the contest. Most recently, he scored a first-round TKO over Zak Ottow in March, marking Morono’s first knockout victory under the UFC banner. He also scored a decision win over Song Kenan this past November and stands at 3-1 in his past four outings.

With the addition to the card, the UFC on ESPN+ 19 lineup includes:

  • Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Michelle Waterson
  • Devin Clark vs. Ryan Spann
  • J.J. Aldrich vs. Lauren Mueller
  • Mackenzie Dern vs. Amanda Ribas
  • Tim Elliott vs. Deiveson Figueiredo
  • Kron Gracie vs. Cub Swanson
  • Max Griffin vs. Alex Morono
