Oezdemir and Macedo each were awarded “Performance of the Night,” while Luque vs. Perry earned “Fight of the Night” honors.
UFC officials announced the winners following Saturday’s event, which took place at Antel Arena and streamed live on ESPN+.
Oezdemir (16-4 MMA, 4-3 UFC) found himself in a must-win situation, carrying a three-fight losing streak into his clash with fellow light heavyweight contender Ilir Latifi. “No Time” responded in fine fashion, outstriking his opponent on the feet and showing capable takedown defense before ending the fight in the second round and taking home an extra $50,000.
In the night’s very first fight, Macedo (6-3-1 MMA, 1-3 UFC) was expected to be in trouble if her matchup with world-champion grappler Polyana Viana (10-4 MMA, 1-3 UFC) hit the floor. But went it wen to the canvas early, Macedo set up a beautiful armbar, earning the fastest submission in women’s flyweight history and allowing her to take home an extra paycheck.
On paper, the fight between Luque (17-6-1 MMA, 10-2 UFC) and Perry (13-5 MMA, 7-5 UFC) seemed certain to deliver. In short, it did, with the two men standing toe-to-toe for nearly the entirety of the contest. Both men landed big shots along the way, though it was Luque who absolutely obliterated Perry’s nose late in the third frame, leaving “Platinum” leaking blood at the final bell. Ultimately, Luque took home a hard-fought split decision, but both men earned an extra check in the process.
