Magomed Ankalaev capped off a solid performance with a highlight-reel finish on Saturday when he defeated Dalcha Lungiambula at UFC on ESPN+ 21.
Ankalaev (12-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) connected with a perfect front kick that made a sickening thud and instantly rocked Lungiambula (10-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) in the third round of the light heavyweight bout. From there, the Russian pounced and ensured he got the finish.

There was no secret recipe to landing the sensational technique, Ankalaev said. It was late in the fight and his coach told him to pull the trigger, so that’s when Ankalaev went up to the middle.
“I just saw him getting tired, starting to drop his hands,” Ankalaev said through an interpreter during his post-fight interview. “My coaches screamed, ‘Kick him in the head,’ and it worked.”
After dropping his UFC debut in March 2018, Ankalaev has now won his past three fights. At 27, the future appears bright for him at 205 pounds.
