With new contract ahead of Bellator 233, Logan Storley not worried about bigger names

THACKERVILLE, Okla. – Logan Storley isn’t thrilled with the amount of time he’s been off since his most recent fight, but armed with a new Bellator deal it might be worth it in the long run.

“It sucks sitting around – especially (since) in the last fight, I wasn’t hurt at all,” Storley told MMA Junkie on Wednesday. “I was kind of looking to go, and we looked at June and July, and the contract was up and we couldn’t come to terms. Then finally we got the new contract signed. I was hoping for September, and it got pushed to October, and now November – whatever. It’s fight week, we’re here.”

Storley (10-0 MMA, 5-0 BMMA) will put his unbeaten record on the line against E.J. Brooks (13-5 MMA, 5-1 BMMA) in a 175-pound catchweight bout on the Bellator 233 preliminary card Friday at WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla. The main card airs on Paramount and streams on DAZN following prelims on MMA Junkie. Because the fight was booked on reasonably short notice, Storley and Brooks agreed in advance to a 175-pound contracted fight rather than welterweight.

Storley said he’s not worried about any names that are out there at 170 pounds, including the fighters who recently were in Bellator’s welterweight grand prix tournament – many of which will be looking to rebound from losses in the event.

Instead, he’s planning on just taking care of Brooks on Friday, and then the rest will take care of itself, he thinks, after that.

“All these guys are coming off losses, and we’re all kind of scattered in the top 10, top 15,” Storley said. “There’s going to be big fights available. The biggest thing for me is to take care of Friday – go in there and show my dominant wrestling and my aggressive style and just push forward. Push the pace.”
